Urgent Sites 3.0 Project
Urgent Pets on Death Row Inc. helps save New York City shelter animals by promoting awareness of dogs and cats who are “on the list” to be euthanized the next day. We are constantly trying to improve the speed and functionality of the sites for the volunteers who tirelessly give their time day in and day out.
While there may not be a big visual difference for some of the sites in this redesign, “Urgent 3.0” introduced a lot of new functionality behind the scenes. This helps to streamline the process saving volunteers valuable time from administrative efforts so they can spend more time networking for the animals.
Urgent sites are now running on the solid and secure Genesis Framework with CloudFlare as an additional layer of security and Max-CDN for pull zones. There is one site yet to be migrated – the cats – which will move after we complete our performance testing. We hope that by the end of July the cats will be on 3.0 as well.
In short, increased functionality, security, and ease of maintenance are key in this release and for some sites, like fosteradopt.urgentpodr.org, the visuals were greatly improved.
