Howard’s Creek is my third client in Kentucky and she’s as great as the other two! Kathy Gorman Archer, founder of Howard’s Creek in 1979, has maintained her own website for years on storesonlinepro. Kathy wanted to pass the baton so she can spend more time on growing the business and less time on maintaining a website.

We built the site on WordPress with a custom child theme using Beaver Builder and WooCommerce. The biggest challenge with this project was getting the add-on products right.

Howard’s Creek offers the option to buy as many add-on products at checkout as the customer wants. These are regularly sized products at a significantly discounted price with no additional shipping. We are using ShipStation and the api for UPS shipping to accommodate different shipping methods (2-day, ground etc) based on the state (or country) and, after a lot of trial and error, we finally figured out how to get these add-on products into the order without added costs.

Kathy is one of my favorite clients. She knows her business so well, is a quick study on the WordPress platform, and has that southern charm and humor that is irresistible.

I can also vouch for Howard’s Creek Authentic Beer Cheese. I’ve had it and it is addicting! I highly recommend!

Kathy and I are now embarking on Phase 2 of the project which is all about Search Engine Optimization (SEO). We have some baseline reports that we’ve tracked for a few months and are now getting into the fun part… testing, tweaking, and watching Howard’s Creek rise to the top of the search results.
